Instrumental Music

Students can enroll in private music tuition offered at Athelstone School.

Instrumental music lessons include a variety of brass and woodwind, piano, guitar and drums.

We encourage students from Reception to Year 2 to start  an instrument starting with the Recorder.  The Recorder is a wonderful instrument to begin with as it focuses on melodic lines, works on those fine motor skills, improves concentration, aids in self confidence, is group orientated along with many many more wonderful reasons to give music a go.

These early years set the foundation for reading and understanding the music language and make for an easy transition to learning other instruments in years to come.

Students from Year 4 can join the Athelstone School Band, conducted by Vanessa Saba. The band participates in the annual ABODA SA School Band and Orchestra Festival.

Instrumental music students perform at a range of school events and are celebrated at our annual Gala Night.

Students in Years 5-6 can also join our senior choir and participate in the SA Primary Schools Music Festival held in September each year.
