Integral to the Civics and Citizenship program at Athelstone School is the biennial Year 6/7 camp to Canberra, our Nation’s Capital. This four day, three night opportunity is offered to students in Year 6 and Year 7 every second year.
Students actively participate in ‘hands on learning’ in:
- Civics and Citizenship through visits to Parliament House, The Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House and the Electoral Education Centre;
- History through visits to the National Museum of Australia, The Australian War Memorial and the Royal Australian Mint;
- Science through a visit to Questacon, the national Science and Technology Centre
As well as a range of other learning experiences connected to Health and PE, Geography and the Arts.
The next Canberra camp is scheduled for 2019.
